This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

After hearing about Illuminae for quite a while, I knew I had to pick it up. Never have I dreaded so much, to put a book down. A few pages in, and I was hooked. Already then, I knew I would love it. The unique writing style made a 600 page book, seem small. And let me tell you: not many can do that and get away with it. There is a reason why I find big books terrifying. But hand me another one in this style, with these two magnificent authors and I will read it!

The main character, Kady, was out of this world (pun intended). One badass, hacker heroine that does not stick around to hear about your bullshit. Getting to know her, was a delight. Throughout the book, she grew as a person. There were moments I could feel her, standing right in front of me. She is someone I would love to have as a friend. We also get to meet her ex-boyfriend, Ezra which is another person I grew to love. The conversations between the two of them, was both touching, deep, heart wreaking and fun. How I wish their story could continue *insert big heart here*.

This book is just packed with everything - romance, action, horror, suspense. You name it, this book has it. The last half of the book was nerve wrecking. There were moments that I held my breath, praying that things would be okay. The plot twists were unpredictable. In some moments, I was utterly shocked. I only predicted one plot twist. One plot twist out of many. This book has been one of the best reading experiences I've ever had, and I'm already itching to read the second book in the series.

If you are looking for a book to soothe your Sci-Fi craving, then this is the book for you. There are not enough words in this world that can describe how much I loved this book.
